Description

Beauveria brongniartii, also known as Beauveria tenella, is a naturally occurring entomopathogenic fungus that acts as an effective biological insecticide against various pests. It can grow and sporulate well in submerged culture and produce oxalic acid as the main metabolic product under certain conditions. This environment-friendly fungus doesn't require ingestion by the host to grow inside infected insects and produces toxins, making it different from chemical pesticides. However, its effectiveness against soil-dwelling pests may be limited due to the resistance developed by them. Overall, Beauveria tenella offers a safe and eco-friendly alternative for pest control without any harm to other organisms or the environment.
