Description

Carboxymethyl Chitosan (CMC) is a highly water-soluble derivative of chitosan obtained by the carboxymethylation of chitin-derived chitosan. With a carboxylation degree of 80% and an adjustable molecular weight around 300K Dalton, CMC delivers superior solubility, moisture retention, and biocompatibility. Compared with native chitosan, it exhibits enhanced chelating ability, excellent film-forming capacity, and stable emulsifying behavior across a pH range of 4–7. Its biodegradability and safety make it a multifunctional biopolymer for cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceuticals, and food formulations.

Key Features:
1)、Completely water-soluble, allowing uniform dispersion in all formulation systems
2)、Provides excellent moisturizing, film-forming, and softening effects for skin and hair care products
3)、High chelation and adsorption capacity toward metal ions and active ingredients
4)、Non-toxic, biocompatible, and biodegradable — suitable for biomedical and cosmetic uses
5)、Stable under pH 4–7, maintaining reliable emulsifying and thickening performance

Applications:
1)、Cosmetics: acts as a moisturizing and film-forming polymer in creams, gels, and serums
2)、Personal care: used in shampoos and conditioners to protect the scalp and improve hair smoothness
3)、Oral care: incorporated into toothpaste and mouthwash for anti-plaque and antibacterial action
4)、Pharmaceuticals: serves as a safe, bio-based polymer carrier or hyaluronic acid substitute
5)、Food industry: functions as a natural stabilizer, thickener, and moisture-retention agent
