Description
Carboxymethyl Chitosan (CMC) is a water-soluble chitosan derivative obtained by carboxymethylation of chitosan, which itself is derived from natural chitin. With a carboxylation degree of 80% and a molecular weight of approximately 300K Dalton (adjustable), it exhibits superior water solubility, moisture retention, and biocompatibility. Compared with native chitosan, CMC provides enhanced chelating capacity, excellent film-forming ability, and stable emulsifying performance within a pH range of 4–7. These characteristics make it a versatile ingredient widely used in cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceuticals, and food formulations.
